About the Department
The main focus of teaching and research in the department is centred on interdisciplinary themes and pledges itself in the broadest and most liberal manner to encourage the advancement of all branches of engineering through its practically skilled education and service missions. The department has a well equipped laboratory with modern infrastructure. The faculty members of the department are well qualified, experienced and have expertise in most frontier areas of research. They have contributed towards publication of a good number of research papers in national and international journals and conferences. The department is recognized as a research centre by VTU and has a separate R & D centre. Many students have registered to pursue Ph.D from various institutes. The department also organizes workshops, seminars, induction programmes and other curricular and co-curricular activities.

Dr. Avinash K
Chemistry is a colourful fundamental subject of science which has a lot of importance in engineering and technology. The subject places more emphasis on applications of chemistry in today's world and provides solutions to many problems we are facing today. Nowadays, the world is focused on interdisciplinary studies, hence students should give importance to the subject for their future studies, career and to excel academically. The faculty members of our department are highly qualified, experienced and involved in research activities in core areas of the subject and engineering applications. Best utilization of faculty, infrastructure and a keen interest in studies gives a strong foundation to budding engineers. "Chemistry must become the astronomy of the molecular world." — Alfred Werner.
