Department of Physics

About the Department

The department of physics was all set to work in the year 2010 with optimum infrastructure. The department consists of a spacious and well-equipped laboratory, darkroom, HOD’s cabin, staff room, and storeroom. The department of physics is determined to train the engineering aspirants in the fundamentals of physics so that they could apply the basic laws and theories of physics in engineering and technology. The department of physics is all set to develop and nurture the learning skills in students to excel professionally as engineers and to serve the broader campus community. The strategy to achieve this is by offering courses in physics that conforms to the university curriculum and some beyond the syllabus application-oriented activities.

The department owns an ergonomically designed and well-equipped Engineering Physics Laboratory with modern types of equipment and a spacious darkroom for optics experiments. A set of well qualified dedicated faculty members and very enthusiastic and skilled supporting staff together work towards the academic and technical excellence of the students. The department ensures the good academic progress of the students by adopting the best practices of the teaching and learning process. The department also thrives in good student throughput for further years of engineering. The department is disposed to carry on research and development activities. An initiative, a research laboratory is constituted. As an initiative Department of Physics has introduced a research set up with simple types of equipment to carry out studies in the field of tribology and allied topics.

HOD’s Message

What one man calls God, another calls the Laws of Physics.”

                                                   – Nikola Tesla.

Physics is the fundamental science. Physics means “nature”. Thus physics is the most important basis for engineering and technology. To understand nature one has to do careful observations. Observations play a decisive role in the study of “nature”. To become a good engineer one must clutch the basic principles and the laws of nature. The study of nature is possible through assumptions, theories, mathematical formulations, experiments, results, analysis, and logical reasoning. Understanding the principles of physics is worth enjoying. I am proud and elated to be a physicist
